Pay later, buy tatkal ticket now

Railways today have introduced a new process for tatkal tickets where customers can book tickets instantly but pay for the ticket later. Under the new scheme, users can book a ticket and pay money for the ticket within 15 days, failing which a penal interest of 36% will be levied along with deactivation of the account itself.

There has been speculation that Government is planning to remove cancellation charges for Tatkal, however a senior spokesman confirmed the news is false. Here are the tatkal charges as per irctc.
