It is known that, on Friday, five labourers (one from East Godavari, one from Jharkhand, and three from Bihar) were killed when they were working on the Palamuru Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project in Nagarkurnool district in Telangana. The workers died when a cable pulling them out of a deep tunnel malfunctioned.
Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan has expressed condolences. In a statement, the Jana Sena Party chief said that the government has to find out who was wrong and whether the deaths were a result of avoidable factors. He didn't rule out the role of human negligence in the accident.
He expressed sympathy by saying that poor migrant laborers have been failed. "The distress of the families whose members migrate to other states, only to lose their lives at work, can't be described in words. It is important for the government to compensate the deceased persons' families. The education of their children must be taken care of. Their livelihood opportunities must be protected," Pawan Kalyan said.
Pawan also said that the two individuals who have sustained injuries must be provided with the best treatment.
