Puratchi Kalaigniar Vijayakanth won millions of hearts when he offered a part of his Aandal Azhagar College property to bury patients who die from the coronavirus pandemic. It was a reaction to some residents of Anna Nagar, Chennai who refused to allow the burial of neurosurgeon Dr. Simon Hercules who succumbed to the virus.

Tollywood superstar turned politician Pawan Kalyan has showered sky high praise on Vijayakanth taking to Twitter and writing "An amazing and Noble gesture by Thiru Vijayakanth, DMDK Leader and Superstar for offering a part of his college land for ‘Corona victims’, where they have been denied burial in their own community burial grounds.".
