Mirabai Chanu, who is all of 26, today won the silver medal at Tokyo Olympics in Women's 49 kg. This is India's first medal in the Olympics. The weightlifter from Manipur has come in for praise from different sections of our society. Telugu stars joined the nation in celebrating her unique feat.

Pawan Kalyan issued a statement lauding Chanu through Jana Sena Party. He said that her feat is the biggest moment for India for the first time in 20 years. He also made a mention of Karnam Malleeswari in his statement. "Her sporting spirit will be a huge source of inspiration to youngsters. Her winning the silver medal boosts the morale of other Indian sportspersons participating in the Olympics," Power Star added.

Mahesh Babu noted that India has won the medal right off the bat. "Off to a flying start! Huge congratulations to Mirabai Chanu on winning the silver for weightlifting at the #Tokyo2020 Olympics. The action has just begun!" the superstar tweeted, using the Indian flag emoji at the end of the tweet.

On the wok front, Pawan Kalyan is doing 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' and the Telugu remake of 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum'. Mahesh is doing 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata'. On August 9, some updates are expected to arrive about the movie.
