It is known that an accident took place on Wednesday in Andhra Pradesh's Achuthapuram district after a gas leak incident in which scores of workers fell ill. They have been treated at a hospital. Female workers first complained of vomiting and nausea. This comes just a month after hundreds of workers complained of eyesore and nausea due to a gas leak accident in the same district.
Pawan Kalyan on Thursday issued a statement condemning the accidents. He said that about 125 workers have been affected by yesterday's accident. And, in last month's accident, more than 400 individuals have been affected.
The Jana Sena chief listed the industries that are susceptible to harmful gas leaks and industrial accidents. He said that SEZs have been given leeway. "While industrial growth is essential for a country's development, we need to put checks and balances in place," he added.
The actor-politician called for conducting safety audits on a regular basis. He said that the government should take steps to fix accountability to instill a sense of responsibility in the bureuacracy and the private sector.
