On Thursday, Draupadi Murmu, 64, was declared the President of India after she won over 64 per cent valid votes in the Presidential polls. She is India's 15th president.
In a statement, actor-politician Pawan Kalyan congratulated the new President by talking about her track record in brief. The Jana Sena Party chief wrote that, in her long and illustrious public life, Murmu has worked for the upliftment of the backward and underprivileged sections of society. She started out as a teacher and went on to become a councillor, legislator, a Minister in the Odisha Cabinet, and the Governor of Jharkhand, Pawan said. He hoped that Murmu brings her rich and vast experience to make a difference in the coming five years.
In his tweet, Megastar Chiranjeevi described Murmu's elevation as a truly historic moment for India because Murmu is the first tribal woman President. "Your journey to the position of President of our Great Country is hugely inspirational to every Indian & even more to the 110 Million Tribal population," he wrote.
