In a decision that pertains to his belief system rather than a political one, Pawan Kalyan on Monday said that he was embracing the social identity of the Rellis, one of the most-disadvantaged castes in Andhra Pradesh.
"A person's caste and religion are not in his hands. It's decided by birth. Given an opportunity by the God, I would wish to take my next birth in the Relli caste," the Jana Sena chief said.
The Rellis are at the lowest rung of the social ladder in the North Coastal districts of the state, Pawan said. "I am embracing the Relli caste to demonstrate my urge to ensure that the community has an equal footing in the society," Pawan said.
"The job of the sanitation workers involves a great deal of dignity. They are one of the three forms of God, the other two being soldiers and farmers," Pawan observed.
