After defending "Dravidian" interests with respect to the Jallikattu issue, actor and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has lashed out at the "humiliation" of Southerners at the hands of the "North Indian" ruling class. Not unknown for emotive deployment of language, Pawan has said that the people know how to put their rulers in place.
"We love Gandhi, we adore Ambedhkar, we salute Sardar Patel, we respect our Constitution. But if the snobbish leadership of North India goes on humiliating the people of South India, hurting their self-respect, we know how to bring down their snobbishness," he has tweeted. Pawan has always referred to nationalist freedom leaders in many of his speeches. The latest tweet questioning the allegedly insensitive ways of the national leadership is in keeping with his temperament.
"We have borne admonishment, we tolerated when you divided us, but if you don't keep your promises, we will resist. Does the North Indian political elites know! 'How many languages are there in south'? For them we are all Madrasis," he said in another statement.
