There has been a mixed response to Gudmba Shankar.

Some say that Pawan Kalyan's zany characterization is very good and the actor has done a great job in comedy. While a few others feel that the film is too whacky and bereft of any plausible story.

But whatever the be the outcome of the film, one thing is clear --- Pawan will not have success or victory celebrations. Most heroes, including Pawan's annaiya Chiranjeevi, have such rallies when their film completes 50 or 100 days.

But Pawan, who likes to play recluse and make himself scarce, does not want to put his fans into undue trouble. He does not want them to suffer just because he is participating in a rally.

Pawan's decision is a fall-out of his own bitter experience a few years back when he participated in one such celebration. At that time, he couldn't stand the travails of his fans as hundreds of them got hurt in the scramble to get a glimpse of him. After this incident, he preferred to stay away from such functions.

True to type, he recently celebrated his birthday in a low-key manner.

Pawan, sure, is a one-off in the industry.

Greta Garbo would approve of him.
