"I have been in a state of penury. Going through hunger pangs is nothing new for me. But of late this poverty is scaring me. My daughter has been bed-ridden for the past few months after a leg injury. She was afflicted with TB. Just medical expenses are Rs 10,000 per month for us," Shyamala said.

Due to the fear of coronavirus, nobody is coming forward to help her. "I have sold off awards to fund my basic needs. I'm helpless," she added.

Recently, character artist Karate Kalyani went to her residence in SR Nagar, Hyderabad, and donated Rs 10,000.

Shyamala has sought financial assistance.
