Pattinte Palazhi
After taking a gap from Mollywood for a couple of years, national Award winning actress Meera Jasmine is making a comeback to Malayalam with the movie Pattinte Palazhi. The actress who had been focusing on her Tamil, Telugu and Kannada assignments is said to be in her career best role in this film, which is a musical.
The movie will also be a comeback flick for Rajeev Anchal, whose `Guru' had been the official Indian entry to Oscars in 1997. Rajeev who started off in films as an art director had been able to make some movies of impact like Guru, Butterflies, Kashmeeram, Beyond The Soul and Made in USA .
The movie will have Meera Jasmine as Veena, who considers music as her life. All set to become a world renowned singer, her journey had been eventful with a lot of losses, setbacks and broken dreams. At times when she finds no ways to bring out her musicful soul, she is almost driven into madness. But as her music finds a way out, she soon becomes an object of honour with the whole world overwhelming to greet her.
Those who know Veena and those who did not, competed for their share of her voice Her father Sheshadri, Guru Usthad, Aamir who was in love with her, Dr. Aparna, Ganapathi, young music director Sreehari; all of them were after her for reasons of their own.
The movie will have Revathy playing the role of Razia while Sreedevi Unni (mother of late actress Monisha) plays Shabnam, Razia's mother. The cast includes Manoj K Jayan, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Nedumudi Venu among others.
Much of the movie was shot at a big bungalow named 'Scot House' in Mysore, which is one of the beautiful locations in this movie. The film is being produced by US based pediatrician, Dr AK Pillai whose love for music prompted him to become a movie producer.
The movie will have ONV Kurup's lines for the six songs which have been set to the tunes by Dr Suresh Manimala. The track list include 'Sadaa Thanthriyaakum', 'Amma Kuruvee', 'Ponnum Noolil', 'Udhaya Sooryane', 'Paattupaduvaan', 'Oru Malar Manchalumaayi', and 'Asar Usko'. The seventh composition, sung by Hariharan, is based on a ghazal composed by the 19th century Urdu poet Momin Khan Momin. Ustad Fiaz Khan also has two alaaps. Since `Pattinte Palazhi's narrates the travails of a female singer, five songs and the aalaap have been sung by K.S. Chithra. The other singers are Vijay Yesudas, Swetha Mohan and Aparna Rajiv, ONV Kurup's granddaughter.
The screenplay of Pattinte Palazhi is written by Dr.Rajendra Babu. The camera is being handled by Azhagappan. Costumes are by S B Satheesan while the makeup is by Pattanam Rasheed. `Pattinte Paalazhy'' will be an offering which will reach the theaters this Onam.
