Bhoopathy Pandian's Pattathu Yaanai is a commercial movie no doubt, as the trailer and the songs reveal the same. It has Vishal and Arjun's daughter Aishwarya in the lead, flanked by Santhanam for the comic segments. Thaman is the music composer of this movie and the audio launch took place recently in the city. Singers: Karthik Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar A cocktail of so many flavors bumped into one package, and the end result is somewhat tasty in bits. The recursive clapping and traditional hymns are one thing and Karthik's mellow voice is a treat for sure, however work individually. The song is about the beauty of the lass as usual, which captures the hearts of so many Romeo's these days, however a Hindustani tryst in the music with some eccentric lyrics for a classic.
Singers: M.M.Manasi, Rahul Nambiar Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar A signature kind of tune jiggles throughout in the form of "Ya Ya Ya", quite pleasingly and surely notable. A mixture of electronic bass clubbed with some niche bass chords run through the background, not to forget the folky rendezvous. A happy-go-lucky song which sings the sweetness of life has the hero enjoying life in his own way, some real good work by Muthukumar. Rahul the melody boy of Tamil music industry is daunted with a peppy task and he comes out clear and ample. Targeted totally at the youth population, this song is for the mass appeal, probably an opener. Poosani Kaai Singers: Gana Bala Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar Gana Bala is a trend these days no doubt, especially after his "Ora Kannala", however this song is somewhat becoming stereotypical as yet again he carves a love anthem. This is more of a love song that has causes the pain and stakes when love is not expressed right away. The song, music and composing is so very familiar from all of Bala's older songs, but folky number might still work in some portions of B & C class listeners. A song for the Gana Fanatics. Singers: Shankar Mahadevan, Suchitra Lyrics: Annamalai Well, the song with all masala elements for sure, rich to portray the hero heroine joy of love with some "Shake a leg" components. It falls on the line of so many swiftly made dance songs, with all the flashy sets high in acoustics. The song is reminiscent of so many of Thaman's club songs that are full of octane energy from some prolific singers. Shankar Mahadevan and Suchitra owe some credit to their makeshift presentation that is freakishly paced. With so much of string baselines and folky orchestration, the song is yet again a must for this commercial movie. Raja Raja Naandhaanae Singers: Haricharan, Udit Narayan Lyrics: Sarathy Two contrasting singers Haricharan and Udit Narayanan, yet soulfully in their own ways bring about a revelation to an age old tune. There is neither energizing tunes nor punches in the song with all the electronic clapping and slight jazz, however Udit shadows Haricharan at places though his stint is very brief. The song is more of a celebration of proposal and a sign of love winning over the heart of the hero. The electronic bit with Nathaswaram and miruthangam is chunky and springs alive. Starting off lethargically, the song creates a little impression while it fizzes out. Star : 2.25/5 |
