In a shocking incident, a minor girl who was admitted to the isolation ward of a hospital was raped by the security guard of the same facility.
The incident reportedly happened on July 8 at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), where the girl was admitted after showing symptoms of the novel coronavirus infection. "The minor girl was seen wandering at the Barh railway station. The child helpline rescued the 15-year-old girl and handed her over to the PMCH for a Covid test. The ward's security guard, Mahesh Kumar, took the victim to the bathroom and raped her. The victim did not reveal this to anyone out of fear. When the members of Child Helpline came to see her on Wednesday, she narrated the ordeal," an investigating official reportedly mentioned.
"The accused Mahesh Kumar (40), a resident of Danapur, was arrested from PMCH. He is a retired Army man who was working with a private security guard agency and posted at the PMCH. Women's police station was informed about the incident," another official reportedly mentioned. Based on the victim's statement, an FIR was registered against the accused and he was arrested. The girl has been medically examined and the report of the same is yet to come.
