Patients kidney stolen at corporate hospital: The real story

In a strange incident at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad's Malakpet, the family of a patient created a ruckus and lodged a police complaint against a doctor for an avoidable controversy.

It all began with one Shiva Prasad Goud, who returned from the US, getting admitted in the hospital for severe stomach pain a few weeks ago.  Dr. Uma Shankar diagnosed that he had a tumour.  The surgeon told the patient that his kidney will be removed during the surgery if it's found that the tumour had spread to the kidney.   And he did the same during the surgery.

However, the patient and his family had no understanding of what happened.  Although they had given prior consent (probably without understanding what was involved), they were under the impression that everything was fine.

After a few days, the patient developed a complication and went to the same hospital and doctor.  In the course of talking to the patient, the surgeon touched upon him not having a kidney.

The patient and his family were shocked at this.  The angry relatives demanded stringent action against the doctor by staging a dharna at the hospital.

It seems miscommunication is the culprit here.
