The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce today issued a statement saying that a meeting was held by all stakeholders, especially producers and exhibitors, to decide on how much Virtual Print Fee (VPF) should be paid to digital service providers. It has been argued by Tollywood producers, distributors and exhibitors that the VPF paid to DSPs has been unreasonably high.
The Chamber today said that efforts are on to arrive at an ideal consensus on the matter. Once everything is decided, the new regime will come into force from September 1.
VPF is a fixed or flexible charge paid by producers to Qube Cinema and UFO Moviez, among other DSPs. VPF charges can be as low as Rs 12,000 or as high as 25,000 per screen. It depends on whether a movie is being screened at a multiplex or a single screen.
