Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar biopic announced

Biopics have now become a go-to genre for Tamil cinema and already 'Thalaivi' starring Kangana Ranaut is on the floors based on the life of former Chief Minister Jayalalitha. Now a biopic has been planned on legendary freedom fighter and socialist Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar titled 'Desiya Thalaivar'.
'Desiya Thalaivar' is directed by veteran R. Arvindaraj whose credits include blockbusters such as 'Oomai Vizhigal', 'Uzhavan Magan' and 'Senthoorapoove'. J.M Basheer an ardent fan of Devar is playing him in the film and is also co-producing along with A.M. Chowdhary.
'Desiya Thalaivar' is based on the book Mudisooda Mannan Pasumpon Devar written by A. R. Perumal Devar who was a close aide of the legendary politician. Many contemporary politicians of the time such as Periyar, Anna Durai and Kalagniar Karunanidhi will feature in the film and the casting work is going on. The shooting will commence once the lockdown ends.
