A Chinese aircraft, Boeing 737-800 flight, which flew from Kunming to Guangzhou, crashed on Monday night in the southern Guangxi province sending shock waves across the nation. Over 132 people, including crew members were on board when the aircraft crashed into the hilly forest in the remote mountainous area Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The crash caused a forest fire due to which no one is expected to survive. Soon after the crash, videos taken from different angles are doing the rounds on social media. In one video, clouds of smoke could be seen emerging from the mountains. In other videos, broken pieces of the aircraft lie strewn on the ground. Even after several hours of rescue operations, no survivor has been found. From another video, caught on a security camera, the flight is seen suddenly nosing down at cruise altitude and dove.

Investigators and rescue workers are on the spot and are yet to retrieve the black box of the plane, which is a crucial device that records aircraft performance, pilot input and cockpit audio and other related information. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sadness at the crash of a passenger flight in China's Guangxi. “Deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the crash of the passenger flight MU5735 with 132 on board in China’s Guangxi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the crash and their family members,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
