Popular Malayalam actress Parvathy, who has featured in over 20 south Indian movies, including the Tamil movies Maryan and Poo, has filed a police complaint against a man who has reportedly been harassing her for over a month.
According to a report from a news agency, the stalker, who identifies himself as Kishore, initially contacted Parvathy's brother through Facebook messenger, where he made claims that Parvathy, who was in the US at the time (October 7) was actually in Kochi and that she had gotten into trouble. He also apparently expressed his wish to save her.
When her brother refused to respond further, the man called her father as well. When he was met with no response yet again, he allegedly showed up at her house and harassed the family members further, including speaking to her father in a derogatory manner. "Stalking as a crime has not been taken seriously and this has resulted in so many women being harmed. Some even fatally. It’s a very harrowing experience," Parvathy reportedly explained in her complaint.
An FIR has been registered under sections 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code. Parvathy, who has always been vocal about several social issues, is also a member of Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), an outfit of women in the Malayalam Film Industry.
