No amount of talent seems to escape the dreaded hands of piracy. It was once a menace in the state, until a ban on any sale of the movie outside of theatres were banned and pirated discs of movies were a thing of the past. But a strain has always remained dormant and it is showing up again now, opening new gates of piracy. Most often, these pirated CDs/DVDs are sold with a margin of just ten rupees, that digs the grave to the reward and recognition talent deserves. Actor-director Parthiepan was really concerned about the issue. But instead of sticking to petition and requisition to the public, Parthiepan took to action this weekend, a week after the release of his directorial comeback movie, 'Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam' or KVTI for short.
Parthiepan elaborated his plan - "I came to know of pirated DVDs of my film and 'Anjaan's' being sold and initially planned to raid Anna Arch in an aim to curb this. But later I had a change of plans and sent my assistant to go Burma Bazaar. He made as if to ask for a copy of KVTI in a shop, and informed the police about this immediately. While the person at the shop was arranging for a copy, the cops arrived right on time to take action against piracy."
