Following in the footsteps of his talented family, veteran filmmaker R. Parthiban’s son Rocky is all set to make his entry into the film industry—not as an actor, but as a director.
While Parthiban’s daughter Keerthana made her mark as a child artist in Mani Ratnam’s Kannathil Muthamittal, and later worked as an assistant director and producer on notable projects like Sekkachivantha Vaanam, Kaatru Veliyidai, Otha Seruppu, and Iravin Nizhal, the family’s creative journey now continues with Rocky.
Parthiban took to social media to proudly introduce his son’s ambitions:
“Rocky Parthiban – my son, my life.
He’s studied cinema deeply—absorbing the aesthetics of black-and-white films, learning cinematography from Mr. Eka, and direction under director Vijay. He’s now preparing to write and direct a commercial thriller. I’m eagerly awaiting the day he officially announces it.”
Parthiban also added with a touch of humor and sentiment:
“He’s promised to cast me in his film—that’s my birthright! Unlike me, he doesn’t speak much. But his perspective and taste are truly refined. I’m proud to introduce him not just as a filmmaker, but as my son. The day he succeeds will be the best day of my life.”
With this announcement, expectations are high for Rocky’s debut as a director, as the next generation of Parthiban’s legacy takes shape in Tamil cinema.
