Like his Kollywood colleagues Kamal Haasan and Arvind Swamy, actor-director R.Parthiban has also been voicing his opinion constantly about the ongoing political situation and the power struggle in Tamil Nadu.
While the people are waiting to know whether Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy will prove his majority in Assembly today or O.Panneer Selvam will get a chance to get back to the top post, Parthiban says that conducting a re-election will be the most appropriate thing to do to remove the discontent among the people caused after the death of former Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha.
Substantiating his argument in seeking re-election the 'Ivan' actor said "The Supreme Court verdict has rendered Jayalalitha and Sasikala as convicts. Both Panneer Selvam and Palanisamy have been nominated by either of the convicts. So people are confused that a convict's nominee is going to rule us."
He said MLAs staying in Koovathur resort are just repeating what has been taught to them like a speaking parrot. :.
He also said he is not speaking in favor of any political party but he is just reflecting the thoughts and concerns of the people.
Countering criticism about the financial expenditure of conducting another elections, Parthiban noted that if public money can be spent on giving police protection to MLAs staying in Koovathur resort for these many days why can't we spend money for another election.
He stated that if Palanisamy or OPS wins the vote of confidence in the Assembly they can become the CM but people are not supporting either of them. Hence re-election is the best option according to Parthiban.
