Tamil cinema has made many innovative and experimental films over the years but they hardly get proper recognition. It is common in our country for a regional cinema to be remade in a different language. Nevertheless, it is a rare phenomenon for a Tamil film to get remade in Hollywood.
So far, the 2017 Hollywood film 'The Hero' ismade based on the storyline of Ulaganayagan Kamal's 'Uttama Villain'. Apart from that, Kamal Haasan's 'Aalavandhan' have inspired the world-renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino to portray violence through animation in his 'Kill Bill' movie and the climax of Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Enthiran' is the inspiration for the alternate ending of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', directed by the Russo Bros.
Now, the latest news is that the experimental Tamil movie 'Oththa Seruppu Size 7' is all set to be remade in Hollywood. It is a single-character film made by R Parthiban, which won numerous awards and accolades. The director, while attending a reality show last week, revealed that ‘Oththa Seruppu Size 7’ will be remade in Hollywood soon.
It is worth mentioning that 'Oththa Seruppu Size 7' already became the first Tamil film to be remade in the Bahasa Indonesia language. The National Award-winning movie is also being remade in Hindi with Abishek Bachchan in the lead role. The highly acclaimed will storm Bollywood soon. On the work front, Parthiban's next experimental work 'Iravin Nizhal' is scheduled to release on July 15.
