'Parineeta' at number eight on British charts

"Parineeta" has debuted at number eight on the British charts in its very first week, receiving a phenomenal response across the world.

The British collection estimates are 115,000 pounds, bringing the US and British total to over $410,000. The film has been produced under the banner of Vinod Chopra Films and directed by Pradeep Sarkar.

Inspired by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's poetic novel, it was released worldwide June 10 with its premiere held in Amsterdam at IIFA.

"Parineeta" has received rave reviews especially for its sensitive performances by the lead cast, including a sensational debut by Vidya Balan, who along with Saif Ali Khan steals the show.

One of the most anticipated films of the year from the makers of films such as "Parinda", "1942 - A Love Story", "Mission Kashmir" and "Munnabhai MBBS"; Vinod Chopra's "Parineeta" has lived up to the expectations of its audiences and has been appreciated by cine lovers across the world.

The story explores the difference in a man and a woman's perception of love and commitment. The film revolves around its lead characters played by Saif, Vidya, Sanjay Dutt and Raima Sen.
