Actor Samikannu passed away

Senior Tamil actor Samikkannu has passed away on Saturday night (June 3, 2017) due to a prolonged illness. He was 95 when he breathed his last.

Samikannu hails as an artist with a strong Tamil theater background. Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan's debut film 'Parasakthi' was enacted as theatre drama for many times before being made as film. In certain occasions, Sami Kannu has acted in the lead role played by Sivaji Ganesan in the film. This proves how great an actor he is.

He made his debut in Kollywood with the film 'Pudhu Yugam' in the year 1954. He has acted in many films with MGR. Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. He has acted in over 400 Tamil films in his long career. He is a regular in veteran director Mahendran's films. He has acted with the Superstar Rajinikanth in the 1979 classic film 'Mullum Malarum; and also played a memorable character in Mahendran's 'Metti'.

The last rites of Sami Kannu would be performed this evening.

Samikannu is survived by wife Visalakshi. daughters Ambika and Rajeshwari and sons Vivekanandan and Dayanandan.
