Thriller movies often have music as a core element, sometime when silence takes the front seat of a poised sequence, its that slow and sensational music that comes after creates a controlled environment. Ghibran has done exactly that in Papanasam which has Kamal in the lead. The songs and instrumental would be better off seen along with the visuals for that is the excitement these tracks have created.

"Yeya En Kottikkaaraa"-Listen to here

Singers: Malavika Anilkumar, Sundar Narayana Rao

Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

The number strikes your mood immediately, the song is a complete winner in terms of harmony, rhythm, composition and every other aspect. The lyrics and aroma of the song captures key essences of the life in a convincing way. Ghibran gives a proper setting of a happy and emotionally attached family with some impeccable string elements that traverses through the singer’s mettle. Malavika and Sundar do a fab job with their piping vocals, the song surely is to top the charts for some time.

Vinaa Vinaa"- Listen to here

Singers: Hariharan

Lyrics: Na Muthukumar

Ghibran uses the best out of the ace singer Hariharan, placed soft and simple the musician has taken the song for a ride by varying composition. Hariharan’s vocals are a delight, as creamy as it could get with the soft paced singing. The song goes as if it’s trans and then with a jump of ecstasy it transforms to a rocky sensation between the interlude. As again Muthukumar’s genius into song writing is a joy to the listener.

Papanasam Theme - Listen to here

A volley of strings and chords meddled with high symphony makes everything in place for a high altitude thriller on the cards. The transition is remarkable and attaches well to one’s sensitive content.

"Kill for Life" - Listen to here

The song is little creepy alright, thanks to some hardwired string sections, it stretches to an extent that it gets too bendy, but an interesting theme put together.

The Bond of Family - Listen to here

A light hearted theme which is let of from the first song, captured well with some western elements. The composer’s mettle is when we has experimented the theme without the vocals and it looks interesting with the array of instruments he has selected, a good effort all the way.

A Sinking Car - Listen to here

A Hollywood like tune that elevates to a point that tries to innovate and succeeds. On the lines of International standards, Ghibran has come up with some interesting composition.

"This is me - Suyambulingam" - Listen to here

Putting a lot of thinking in bass and strings, the instrumental varies between pianistic excellence and drumming. The music glues to its intention and does the talking by varying rhythm through its life.

Rating - 3.25/5
