Panthaya Kozhi
Lal Creations, one of the biggest banners of Malayalam is coming up this Vishu with another family story. The film titled as Pandhaya Kozhi casts Narain in the role of an angry young man. Narain, (earlier known as Sunil), had played the tough cop in For the People and its sequel By the People. He had also played the role of a henchman of a gangster in his first Tamil film Chithiram Pesuthedi, the film that saw him get re-christened as Narain.
Panthaya Kozhi also will present one of the good story tellers of Malayalam, M.A.Venu, who got the state award for the first venture Chakoram as the director after a gap of four years.
In Panthaya Kozhi, Narain plays Bharathan, who has got a group of good friends. Played by Sreejith Ravi, Anoop Chandran and Sudheesh. These group of youth has got a share of problems at their village. To get over them, they plan to sell a house and some property that Bharathan owns in Kalimuthupalayam in Tamil Nadu. The journey of the group ends up in bigger problems as a number of mysteries associated with the TN house, has to be solved before they sell the house.
And in the village they meet a bold girl Chembakam with whom Bharathan falls in love. How the friends group solves the problems they face, forms the story which is penned by J Pallaseery on the basic plot by direcrtor M.A.Venu. Producer Lal also plays a key role in the film. Tamil actress Pooja debuts into Malayalam playing Chembakam. Besides Narain, the movie also stars Geetha, Madhu, Janardhanan and Rami Reddy. The film has four good songs set to music is by Lal's brother Alex Paul and the lyrics are by Vayalar Sharatchandra Varma.
Producer Lal has gone and booked the best theatres for Panthaya Kozhi. The whole industry is waiting for the results of the movie as Lal being one person who has a good story sense is expected to pull some magic out of his hat, for Malayalam Cinema definitely needs a hero like Narain to sustain.
The case behind the sudden production of such a movie has got its share of grapewine. Producer Lal has originally wanted to make the movie with one of the superstars but he refused dates for the movie considering it as a stale subject.
Miffed by the snub of superstars, Lal has decided to launch Narain aka Sunil as the new hero in Malayalam. Sunil/Narain was just awesome in the Tamil film Chithiram Pesuthadi, but unfortunately he has not been able to show his talent in Malayalam films to that extent even though he appeared in not so demanding roles in quite a few films like Sheelavathy, Achuvinte Amma and Annorikkal. And this Vishu will see the result of such a demanding and confident decision.
This movie is likely to be a surprise hit for this Vishu, because Lal is in all hearts to market the film at its best. Only the question which remains is how Venu and team would shape up this potential hit.
