The cancel culture which is more commonly known as boycott trend is one of the biggest issue in Bollywood right now. Since last few weeks, some netizens are demanding people to boycott films like 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and 'Raksha Bandhan' just because they don't agree with something that actors Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar said several years ago.
There is also negative sentiment amomg these people against Bollywood as they believe that Bollywood is always tries to hurt their religious sentiments. For this reason, they wish to boycott Bollywood entirely. Recently, gifted actor Pankaj Tripathi shared his take on this matter.
Stating that everyone is entitled to their right of expression in democracy, Pankaj told India Today, "Democracy me sabko apni baat rakhne ka adhikaar hai (In a democratic world, everyone has the right to voice their opinion). But at the same time, films are a big medium that generate revenue to the government. This revenue is then used for the betterment of the society. Lekin, sehemati ho ya nahi, (however, if they agree or not), this is each one's individual right."
