Shocking! Famous Tamil serial director’s wife dies by suicide

O. N. Ratnam has directed notable Tamil serials with the leading actresses like Revathy and Radhika namely ‘Azhagu’ and ‘Vani Rani’ which aired on Sun TV.   His other credits include hit serials like ‘Chevvanthi’, ‘Priyamana Thozhi’ and ‘Pandavar Illam’,

The television industry has been shocked to learn that Ratnam’s wife Priya died suddenly by hanging heself.  It is said that Ratnam and Priya hail from the same village in Pollachi and fell in love with each other and marred against the wishes of their parents.  The couple have two children and were living happily in Chennai.

Initial reports suggest that the children had gone on a vaction to their grandparents house in in Pollachi and returned today.  Ratnam had gone in the morning to pick them up from the bus stand and on his return found Priya hanging and rushed her to the hospital but she had passed away by then.  Postmortem is being conducted at the Royapettah Govt hospital. It is reported that the couple had a small misunderstanding and neighbours lament that Priya took such an extreme step.
