The Tamil Film producers Council, Directors Union and FEFSI have intervened in the ongoing Nadigar Sangam tussle between the teams of Sarathkumar and Vishal in a bid to facilitate a compromise and restore unity between actors.
In a joint statement, the three films related organizations, y have conveyed their apprehension that the Nadigar Sangam will be split if the elections were contested by these two groups and had apparently appealed to Pandavar Ani to come for a compromise. There are also reports suggesting that these three organizations are taking efforts to call both the sides to the discussion table to effect a compromise.
The Pandavar Ani of actors Vishal, Karthi, Nasser, Karunaas and Ponvannan have released a detailed statement in reaction to the attempts to bring compromise in Nadigar Sangam and give up the elections. Following are the excerpts:
"Pandavar Ani appreciates the efforts of Producers Council, Directors Union and FEFSI. But we could not understand why you apprehend that the Nadigar Sangam will be split if elections were conducted. There are as many as 27 associations related to Tamil film industry. Every association conducts its own elections once in three years. After the election till date, all the members of those associations remain united. But for Nadigar Sangam there has been no elections for the past ten years. Now we are struggling to conduct an election in a democratic method. We are astonished to note your fear that the Nadigar Sangam will be split by Pandavar Ani's efforts to conduct a democratic process.
The nominations for the elections have been filled and the final list of nominees is ready. The election officer is going to send the document to those who wish to cast a postal vote. At this juncture, you are sending a statement which states that the Nadigar Sangam will be split by the actions of Pandavar Ani. We are perplexed and pained by this.
We will be happy and proud if you convey your point to those who are enjoying the posts for ten years without facing the elections.
Right from the beginning we have been struggling to conduct this election in a democratic manner. We will stand grounded on this goal till the end. We will wholeheartedly accept the results of the elections.
We thank everyone who have been a part of this joint statement expressing concern about the unity of Nadigar Sangam."
