Producer Abhirami Ramanathan deserves applause for rendering a movie for kids which is a laugh-a-thon right from word go.

Directed by Raju Eshwaran, who was part of Rajinikanth's 'Bloodstone' team, 'Panchamirtham' is a movie that is a unique mix of comedy and magic sure to evoke applause from children.

The director has proved that one can make engrossing movies without any gory stunt sequences, double meaning comedy and needless emotions. Blending mythology with a contemporary theme is a tight rope walk act. Raju Eshwaran has managed to weave magic by bringing the two together.

With a talented star cast comprising of big names like Jayaram, Prakashraj and Nasser, he has ended up rendering a hilarious entertainer.

Ravana's brother Mareesan (Jayaram), who gets killed by Lord Rama with a curse becomes a rock. Moving to the present, Nasser, a millionaire is cheated by his domestic helps Ilavarasan, M S Baskar and Mayilsamy.

However, the entry of Saranya Mohan stops them from doing so. The trio hires hit men Karunas and 'Kanja' Karuppu to kill Saranya. She gets pushed off a cliff and lands straight on the Mareesan rock. Mareesan, who gets his life back helps Saranya save her life and brings the 'baddies' to book.

Jayaram as Mareesan lives the role. He is good at his comical act. Equally impressive is Prakashraj. As Ravanaa, he hogs all the limelight. His dialogue delivery and body language are spellbinding.

Mayilsamy, 'Kanja' Karuppu, Karunas and M S Baskar tickle the funny bone.  The director (Raju Eswaran) dons the role of Idumban. Sundar C Babu's music is average and the re-recording is mismatch at many places.

Saranya Mohan walks away with all aplomb. She not just looks good on screen but is refreshing. 'Panchamirtham' is a laugh-riot and is the destination for children this vacation.
