Now that Nagarjuna has revived the memories of ANR's 'pancha kattu', many old-timers are naturally getting nostalgic.
Musicologist Raja, who had had many personal memories with the legendary ANR, says that ANR proved C Narayana Reddy's sentence, "Pancha kattutalo prapanchana monagadu evadayyaa vaadu, inkevadu telugu vaadu," right
Not many know that ANR dhoti, about which Nag spoke in the run up to his film's release, has been copyrighted. They are from the town Ponduru and are sold by Apco. The ANR dhoti sellers from Ponduru used to be the sellers of dhotis personally to ANR every year, says Raja.
Delineating the differences between the dhoti worn by ANR in Dasara Bullodu and that worn by Nag in Soggade Chinni Nayana, he says that the former covered both the legs, while the latter covers only one leg. Besides, the former had 'anchu' (solid border) on two sides, while the latter has 'anchu' on only one side.
Fondly sharing his personal memories with the legendary actor, the musicologist said that it was ANR who taught him how to wear dhoti. "When I told ANR garu that I couldn't wear a dhoti for my daughter's wedding as I did not know how to wear one, ANR garu took me into his room and taught me how to wear it."
