It was in 2005 that Vikram became a star hero with 'Aparichitudu', the Telugu dubbed version of 'Anniyan' (Tamil). Director Shankar, more than 16 years later, is now going to remake it in Hindi with Ranveer Singh reprising Vikram. 'Anniyan' will be remade as a pan-India project, which probably means that the film will be dubbed into Telugu and Tamil, among others.
Describing Ranveer Singh, who is known for his breakout performances in films like 'Gully Boy', as a maverick and charismatic showman, Shankar said that he is thrilled to associate himself with the once-in-a-generation actor.
The film will go on the floors in mid-2022 or so. Ranveer has said that Vikram had given a colossal performance in the original.
Shankar is also committed to directing Ram Charan's pan-India film, which was announced in February. He is also obligated to complete Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2'. As per Lyca Productions, 70% of its shoot is already over.
