‘Pallaburusu’ OTT Release: Rural Comedy Drama Lands on Prime Video

Missed ‘Pallaburusu’ in theatres? The Telugu rural comedy drama has now found its way to the OTT space. The film, which released theatrically on August 14, 2026, is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Backed by Annapurna Studios and EPIC Studios, ‘Pallaburusu’ arrived in theatres without much promotional hype and had a relatively quiet theatrical run. Within less than three weeks of its release, the film has made its digital debut.
One of the interesting aspects of the OTT release is its multilingual availability. Along with Telugu, the film can also be watched in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, potentially giving it a wider reach among South Indian audiences.
It All Starts With a Toothbrush!
Starring Sudhakar Reddy and Muralidhar Goud in the lead roles, ‘Pallaburusu’ marks the feature directorial debut of Uday Chauhan.
Set in the rural landscape of Telangana, the film takes a seemingly ordinary family situation and turns it into an unusual chain of events. An elderly father is advised to use a toothbrush, but his financially troubled son refuses to spend money on one.
What appears to be a minor disagreement soon spirals into a village-level dispute. The issue eventually results in a police complaint and takes an unexpected turn towards the courtroom.
Behind the humour and chaos, the film also touches upon deeper themes such as strained family relationships, accumulated resentment and the loneliness experienced by ageing parents.
Will OTT Give the Film a Second Chance?
While ‘Pallaburusu’ could not make a strong impact at the box office, its OTT arrival gives the film another opportunity to connect with viewers. With its Telangana village setting, quirky premise and mix of humour and family drama, the film could attract audiences who prefer offbeat regional stories.
The supporting cast includes Prajwal Yadma, Gomathy Reddy, Kiran Macha and others. Pawan Ch has composed the music.
