Video: Mad elephant goes violent and uncontrollable in residential area

An elephant, which was brought to a temple festival in the Palakkad district of Kerala, went wildly out of control, damaging several vehicles, two electric posts, and a boundary wall before it was brought under control by its trainer with the help of an elephant squad.

Videos of the elephant have gone viral on social media where people can be seen running after the tusker, in an attempt to get hold of it. Named Vadakkumnathan Ganeshan, the elephant is also seen toppling a car with its trunk in the video. Only after injuring itself during the rampage was the elephant brought under control. Later, the trainer, who also got injured, chained the animal with the help of an elephant squad. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Several incidents in the past involving elephants going on a rampage and sometimes even killing people during the temple festivals in Kerala have been reported.
