Days after Subramanian Swamy, the BJP leader, suggested that many Bollywood films are foreign-funded, another leader of the same party has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate investigations into the sources of funding with respect to the controversial movie 'Padmavati'.

"BJP Leader and Censor Board member Arjun Gupta writes to PM Modi, requests Enforcement Directorate investigation into allegations of Subramanian Swamy of 'Padmavati' being financed from Dubai. Also questioned how film was shown to British censors without a CBFC certificate," tweets ANI, the news agency.

Meanwhile, in a relief for the makers, the Supreme Court on Tuesday has refused to order a stay on the film's release.

A few BJP-ruled states have already banned the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed movie.

As per some sources, the Deepika Padukone-starrer could release on January 26.
