'Padmavati' (Hindi), starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, could well be dubbed into Telugu and released on December 1. If that happens, Sai Dharam Tej could well have a small-time competitor, although most lovers of such historicals might love to watch it in the original language.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it also stars Aditi Rao Hydari of 'Cheliyaa' fame. A historical based also on a poem, the expensive film has angered certain Rajput groups in recent past. Islamic invader Alauddin Khilji has been imaged as a savage king for good.
The film's trailer and the first song, 'Ghoomar', have become a big hit. "Insanely beautiful!! Each frame etched to perfection by the master craftsman," Rajamouli recently tweeted in praise of the trailer. He is bowled over by Ranveer, who is playing the Muslim king Alauddin Khilji in this historical. "Ranveer looks menacing and frightening yet can't take my eyes off him," he opined.
Besides Telugu, 'Padmavati' could also see a Tamil release on the same date. Efforts are said to be on to convert it into 3D format.
