'Padmavati', Gujarat elections & a letter

Sections of national media have it that 'Padmavati' could be sought to be postponed till the completion of the Gujarat polls on Dec 9 and 14. The Deepika Padukone-Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is slated for a grand Dec 1 release.
The parties allegedly seeking the postponement of the film's release are BJP's VP from Gujarat and a Kshatriya leader. Certain Kashatriya/Rajput groups have been alleging that 'Padmavati', a historical telling the story of Rani Padmavat and Islamic invader Alauddin Khilji, has distorted facts.
The said parties have written a letter to the Centre, urging that the film's release should be put off. They are also going to pen a letter to the CBFC and even the Election Commission, says a report.
Distributors are hopeful that the issue will be resolved in the coming weeks.
Just a few BJP leaders wishing that the film doesn't release on Dec 1 doesn't mean that the whole party or the NDA government at the Centre want to halt the film.
