Kamal Haasan the legendary actor turned politician floated his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam in 2018 and contested for the first time in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2021. The party fared poorly in all the constituencies except a few with Kamal himself losing by a margin of just under 2000 votes in South Coimbatore.
After the drubbing in the elections, many important members of the Makkal Needhi Maiam have quit especially the vice president R. Mahendran who has since accused Kamal of autocratic behavior and that he is being misguided by people with vested interests.
Today another couple of shocks have jolted the MNM as Santhosh Babu IAS the general secretary of the party has severed his ties. He has revealed that it's for personal reasons he has taken the decision but will still remain as a close friend of Kamal Haasan.
The other important person who has walked out of the Makkal Needhi Maiam is Padmapriya the young social activist who contested from Maduravoyal in Chennai and lost. She also has cited personal reasons for quitting but promised her constituency people that she will continue her social service.

#PadmaPriya
