Pachakuthira
Among the modern-day directors Kamal is known for his sensitive reflections. He doesn't make films for just its entertainment value.
Pachakuthira is a good example of his serious mind-set. In this film, he turns the searchlight on the unknown side of the film world. It is about those who live beneath the glamour and glitz. It is about the junior artistes. Their life is untold and unsung. And hence Kamal has chosen to tell it.
The other highlight of Pachakuthira is the double action by Dileep. He is doing a double role after Kunhikoonan. And like in that, the second role he does here has a special attraction --- he looks toothy and totally devoid of any glamour.
It takes guts to portray oneself as hideous looking. Dileep has it. After Chandhupottu, Dileep is hoping that he is noticed in another different kind of role.
Like in Chandhupottu, he has Gopika for company. Gopika, suddenly out of favor, is looking for a major break to announce her comeback.
The story is about Anandakuttan who ends up as a junior artiste. Life is one major struggle for him. It is a travail that has to be undergone. But enters in his life, his twin Akash Menon. He provides him a reason to live.
What follow is fun and some thought-provoking events.
In the meanwhile, Anandakuutan has a thing going for Nimmy his co-artiste. Gopika plays Nimmy.
A host of directors including Fazil, Viji Thamby, play their real-life roles in the movie.
Ilayaraja's music is one of the major highlights of the movie.
Babu Shahir has produced the movie, which has screenplay by TA Shahid, lyrics by Girish Puthencherry and camerawork is by P Sukumar.
Pachakuthira is slated for Vishu release.
