Pa. Ranjith with his immense talent and hard work is hailed as one of the most influential filmmakers of the current generation in Indian cinema. His films deal with the lives of the downtrodden and oppressed people and always give the audience strong messages without compromising on the entertainment value.
It is well known that Ranjith was an ertwhile assistant director of Venkat Prabhu but few know that he has been a prankster as well as acted in a comedy role. Video clips that have gone viral show Ranjith pranking actress and VJ Archana by offering her a movie role and asking her to agree for a "big" payment of rupees hundred per day. The celebrity gets angry before realizing that she has been outwitted. Ranjith is pretty effective as a prankster as you can see in the video below.
Similarly Ranjith has acted in a comedy role as a North Indian announcer for a camel race in 'Thaggappansamy' starring Prashanth in the lead. His clean Hindi dialogue delivery shows that there is an actor lurking within. Better known is the ace director's appearance in 'Chennai 600028' as a cricket umpire.
Pa. Ranjith's next release is 'Natchathiram Nagargirathu' which is hitting the screens worldwide on August 26th. The romantic comedy that goes beyond gender conventions has Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan in the lead roles with Kalaiarasan, Dancing Rose Shabheer and 'Madras' Hari in important roles.
Ranjith will soon begin shooting for 'Chiyaan 61' starring Vikram and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles with G.V. Prakash Kumar scoring the music and Studio Green K.E. Gnanavelraja producing on a grand scale.
