Actor Vijay Sethupathi's production venture 'Merku Thodarchi Malai' is hitting the screens today (August 24, 2018). The film directed by debutant Lenin Bharathi is a take on the livelihood of tribal people living on the Western Ghats in Tamil Nadu. The film has won several awards in the International film festivals it has been screened and it has also received overwhelming positive reviews from the local press and media persons who have watched it in a special pre-release screening held recently.

Now Kollywood's leading filmmaker Pa.Ranjith who has done two back to back films with Superstar Rajinikanth and also considered as a filmmaker with great social concern and political clarity, has praised 'Merku Thodarchi Malai' to the skies. In his appreciation message Ranjith has said that the film has presented the lives of humans who are being exploited by the capitalist powers. He has also praised director Lenin Bharathi, Cinematographer Theni Eshwar and producer Vijay Sethupathy for giving such a honest 'People's cinema'. He has also urged Tamil audience "who never fail to acknowledge good film" to watch 'Merku Thodarchi Malai' and celebrate this 'People's cinema'.
