Director Pa. Ranjith while speaking at a public event had made controversial statements on the ancient Chozha king Raja Raja Chozhan which resulted in the Thiruppananthal police filing a case and issuing an arrest warrant. Ranjith had approached the Madurai Branch of the Madras High Court for anticipatory bail but the police had also filed a petition objecting it. When the case came up a few days back it was found that the police petition had mistakes and time was given till today to correct it. The court also ordered that the 'Kaala' director should not be arrested in the meantime.
Today the case came up for hearing at the Madurai High Court and the judge after going through both the petitions refused to extend the stay on Pa. Ranjith's arrest. It is now feared by the Ranjith camp that he could be arrested any time now.
