AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi today met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to urge him on something that is a "burning issue" in the country. He met the Telangana CM to request him to put a stay on the National Population Register.
"The Kerala government has already done that. The Chief Minister said that he will let us know his decision in a couple of days. The meeting was positive," Owaisi today said. "There is no difference between the NPR and the NRC. Amit Shah is misleading the country. All political parties will be together in protesting against this," he added.
Two days back, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy said that his State will not carry out the National Register of Citizens.
Earlier this month, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made it clear that there are no rights for States regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act. He might probably have added NRC as well in the list.
