Oviya made an impressive debut in Tamil playing the naive village belle in 'Kalavani' directed by Sargunam which got her high appreciation. She went on to feature in other hit films including 'Kalakalappu' and 'Yaamirukka Bayame'. However the real big stardom came for Oviya after her participation in the 'Bigg Boss' season hosted by Kamal Haasan in 2017.
It is no exaggeration that by her pleasing personality and bubbly presence Oviya made a huge impact on 'Bigg Boss' and was one of the highlights of the show. The alleged onscreen romance and heartbreaks between Oviya and title winner Aarav was fuel that pushed the show on. The romance however reached a sensational climax after Oviya exited the house allegedly after suffering a bout of depression and some rumors even suggested a suicide attempt.
Oviya has since been living her own life choosing projects that connects to her such as '90ML' and 'Kalavani 2' and is set to star in a few web series as well. Oviya suddenly posed the question "Do you agree or disagree to ban big boss show? that had her fans busy and most replied that it should be banned.
Later Oviya put up the cyptical post "I wish they should not torture contestants until commit suicide for TRP". Was Oviya referring to her experience in the house and that of Madhumitha who also cut her wrists and was terminated on 'Bigg Boss 3' is not clear. Netizens are however confused why Oviya who gained so much limelight through the show is brining up the debate for banning the show.
