Mallu beauty Oviya, who had debuted in Tamil with the sleeper hit Kalavani and starred in a number of flicks like Kalakalappu, wasn't seen much in films later, before she resurfaced to the limelight, with her appearance on small screen in the television game reality show Bigg Boss which had Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan as its host.

Not only was the show a smash hit, but also propelled Oviya to unprecedented stardom, and the actress had since then signed few flicks, and the most important among them happens to be K2. This movie, directed by Sargunam happens to be the sequel to the 2010 hit rural entertainer Kalavani directed by the same maker, and Oviya, in a recent media interaction has opened up on her character in K2, which is fast progressing.

Oviya has revealed that the movie is a proper sequel to Kalavani, and will have her reprising her role of Mahesh aka Maheswari, and how her life proceeds after her marriage with her love Arikki aka Arivazhagan played by Vemal,and the problems and situations that arise after her marriage and how she resolves them and handles the mischievous Arikki. She added that Sargunam is her mentor and that she will play any role the director offers her and said that her recent appearance in Silukkuvarpatti Singam was a commitment made much before Bigg boss, and she is now doing films selectively. Oviya also has the Anita Udeep directorial 90ml and the Raghava Lawrence directorial Muni 4 aka Kanchana 3 in her kitty.
