Actress Oviya had started her acting career with the Sargunam directed rural entertainer Kalavani starring Vemal, and later went on to act in numerous movies in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

Having acted in few hits like Kalakalappu, Kanchana 3 Oviya became more popular among Tamil Nadu audience with her participation in the first ever season of the reality game show Bigg Boss hosted by Kamal Haasan.
