It was last year actor turned director Baburaj announced his next directorial 'Black Coffee', a spinoff of the 2010 Ashiq Abu directorial Salt n Pepper. A day ago, the team had unveiled the teaser of the upcoming multi-starrer movie that has Sunny Wayne, Oviya, Orma Bose, Baburaj, Lal, Shwetha Menon, Lena and Rachana Narayanan Kutty in important roles.
It may be noted that it was Salt N' Pepper that changed Baburaj's tough guy image among the moviebuffs. Going by the teaser, it looks like Black Coffee seems to revolve around Baburaj's character who moves to an apartment of four women. The upcoming movie is also centered around food and how people who bond over food.
“The story begins when my character in Salt N’ Pepper, cook Babu, leaves Kalidasan's home after he marries Maya. He turns insecure as he continues to be a chronic bachelor, a bhrahmachari who is shy around women. He feels Kalidasan has no affection towards him anymore," Baburaj had earlier revealed in an interview with News Minute.
After a long gap Oviya is returning to Malayalam cinema with the film. The actress is playing an American Malayali who comes down to Kochi with dreams of becoming an actor. Sunny Wayne plays her romantic interest in the film.
Baburaj had earlier directed two crime dramas Manushyamrugam and Black Dalia. Black Coffee marks to be the actor's first comedy directorial.
