Out Of Syllabus
The come back of melody
Monday, March 20, 2006 • Malayalam Comments

This film in its title itself ignite the feelings of off the track remembrances. Just as the title, is the music of the film - much apart from the trends, melodious, soft and poetic.

Not many campus based movies could boast of such a quality music and lyrics - all set to tunes by relatively fresh faces. The music department of the album, Out of Syllabus is handled by Benett and Vithraag - while the beautiful lines are by Prabha Varma and Rafiq Ahamed.

The album has got five songs, some of them repeated in the tracks. In the covers of this musical is the caption -'A musical touch to the campuses showered with love'- much of which is true if you hear this with patience.

The first song starts with 'Eekalpadavil' sung by G. Venugopal and written by Rafiq Ahamed. This lengthier song with three Antharas is the best of the lot. The poetic feel of emotions is sprinkled all through the lines - and as usual G.Venugopal has rendered it with inherent quality.

Another song which arouse similar feelings is 'Poyvaruvaan Koodevaru' sung by Manjari. The song underlines the nostalgic festivities of campus life ,effectively penned by Prabha varma.

Another duet sung by Vidhu Prathap and Gayathry- 'Poove' also is simple and straight to the heart.

The only song in the album with faster beats is 'Ee jeevitham' by Vineeth Sreenivasan' used in the video promos and in the film to present a cameo.

The album is an eye opener to every one who don't believe in the power of melody. Even without much foot tapping items, this album is a collector's issue for serious music lovers.
