Director Lokesh Kanagaraj recently revealed that actor Soori has become one of the most sought-after stars in Tamil cinema, with half the stories pitched to him featuring Soori in the lead. His comments came during the press meet for Maaman, an upcoming film starring Soori and Aishwarya Rajesh, scheduled for release on May 16.
The event was attended by several prominent filmmakers including Mari Selvaraj, Siruthai Siva, Ponram, and Lokesh Kanagaraj, who were present to show their support for the film.
Speaking at the function, Lokesh said, “I’m confident the trailer of Maaman will be a big hit. Audiences have been embracing family-oriented films lately, and Maaman fits that space perfectly. I believe it will do well.”
He also praised Soori’s inspiring journey, saying, “It’s amazing to witness Soori anna’s growth. His success makes all of us happy.”
Talking about his own production venture, Lokesh added, “I’ve begun producing small-budget films. And when ten directors come to narrate scripts, five of those stories are written with Soori as the lead. That speaks volumes about his popularity. It’s a joy to see.”
The event highlighted the growing respect Soori commands not only as a comedian but now as a credible lead actor in emotionally-driven cinema.
