With the recent National Awards for the much acclaimed ‘Ore Kadal’, the melody maker of Malayalam ‘Ouseppachan’ is in his helm of popularity, once again. The musician who landed into filmdom in the early eighties had been earlier considered for National acclaim for his films like ‘Unnikale’, Oru Katha Parayaam’ and ‘Freaky Chackra’. But he turned lucky third time with the music tracks made in the ‘Subha Panthuvarali’ raga for ‘Ore Kadal’ bagging him the maximum support from the Jury for this year's National awards.

Ouseppachan who thanks God for this rare triumph feels that it was also the effort of the director Shyamaprasad who asked him to take the challenge of composing all the tracks in the same raaga, to accentuate the mood of the film. The haunting melodies of the movie was the chart toppers for quite some time when the movie was adjudged the best in many festival circuits. Ouseppachan used the voice of himself and singers like Bombay Jayashree, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Shwetha, Naveen Nair, Sujatha G Venugopal to perfect the songs. A master in creating good Background scores, his BG for the movie was also a class apart.

A consistent performer in delivering super hit melodies, the musician has never faced any big slump in his career of three decades. Right from his debut film of ‘Kathodu Kaathoram’ he had been continuously able to create at least a couple of hit music every year, the latest being in ‘Moz And Cat’. Following with the tradition, the year too will have his good music in forthcoming movies like ‘Angel John’, Dileep's ‘Body Guard’ and Kamal's ‘Aagatham’. More over the year will also witness his son Arun Ouseppachan debuting as a hero actor in one of the forth coming movies.
